The Chamber volunteers put up 800 metres of celebratory material bunting increasing green efforts as also recyclable, the bunting can be seen throughout the town lights route as these are the only allowable due to bus routes etc. we got lots of people saying thank you and a few people saying that we were early, we did this early to spot any faults in the bunting so that we can repair these and also because we knew that the day we put the strings up was going to a hot sunny day as we learnt sitting in the Landmark garden getting sunburnt!
Chamber members, Deal Rotary Pirates and enthusiastic residents provided the labour, we provided the tea, Eileen Rowbotham kindly provided the cakes, we also owe many thanks to Deal Town Council as they kindly funded the bunting and £50 prize for a competition that we shall be running for the best dressed Coronation shop/business window.
We are hoping to see a number of businesses out there doing their best with their displays to reach the parts that our bunting cannot!
We will be judging the efforts one week before and one week after the coronation, please e-mail enquiries@dwchamber.co.uk if you do have or know of a shop window that you want considered in the competition as it would be a shame to miss anybody.
If members of the public can also send their photos next to shop windows they like or send one using the backdrop of the town bunting to enquiries@dwchamber.co.uk we will also give a prize to the best photo taken and use it on our website and next press release with your permission.
