The light switch on night was a success, with the snow and special effects from Gareth Hopkins the DJ who kept the whole show going with great compere work from the “Duncan Disorderly Girls” – Lisa Lauder and Michelle Duncan on the night.
Nadine Miller a Deal Town Council representative and two colleagues came on stage to tell everyone about Deal Warm Welcome more information at www.deal.gov.uk/DWW
Santa Clause and his helpers Pick & Mix AKA Toni Davies and Karen Roberts threw out sweets to the crowd and it all looked a great Christmassy affair to a record crowd!
Our thanks also go out to our Chairman Peter Jull, the Deal Mayor for their presence and kind words and the lovely girls from the Carnival Court that would brighten up any event. We were entertained well by the stars from the Royal Marines Pantomime as now is tradition.
The icing on the cake was local fire fighters from Deal Fire Station who switched on the lights with pride, their services to Deal and Walmer throughout the past years bravely saving lives and properties make them our worthy Local Heroes.
The Chamber would like to thank all of the businesses and staff that contributed, whether it was volunteering to put the lights up to buying one of our 120 Xmas trees, or providing an auction lot to ensure lighting expansion continues through the town. Watch out for expansion in 2023 aided by grants from Deal Town Council and Deal District Council.
We have been humbled by the good that all our local businesses did throughout lockdown and after it, they do long days and many hours for their customers and the staff in them are a credit to the business owners, they employ 3,000 plus local people.
With the full lights on display in this beautiful town, the main message we would like to put out there is that we made it look great for you so that you “Shop Locally”. The Deal & Walmer Chamber of Trade would like to wish everyone a Merry Xmas and a Prosperous New Year.
