Kevin & Juliette Short from Ettecon Productions specialise in writing fact based dramas and stories about real people. Charlotte and the Therapist, a short psychological drama, achieved 6 film festival awards including best female Director for Juliette Short. Their roots however are music, in recent years they made a couple of music videos, both achieved awards in various festivals around the world.
Ettecon are filming a film called “The Miner’s Son” in Deal and the surrounding area, it is a moving story of broken dreams, enduring friendships and new love during a time of civil unrest and violent social upheaval. “The Miner’s Son” is a nostalgic story of the hopes and dreams of a rock band amidst a bitter conflict in 1984… The current film project in production depicts how a year of industrial action and violent unrest changed the face of a small tight knit community and their way of life forever! A bitterness that is still felt today, and focuses on a bygone industrial past of a Kent town in England.
Some of the characters are based on real people and true events from the day. The findings for this screenplay are fact based and sourced from friends and family who lived through this turbulent time, also this story is based on the memories of one of the writers Kevin Short, who was a guitarist in a local rock band, and struggled to play anywhere or get recognition.
Martha Trust is a local charity with two homes on the Deal-Sandwich Road. They support young people and adults with the most profound disabilities and offer a home for life as well as respite and much needed support for families.
At Martha they pride themselves on transforming the lives of the people they support. Adults with profound disabilities are amongst the most vulnerable in society, and need be nurtured and supported in a safe, loving environment, something they are very proud of offering at Martha.
